How does going onto a Debt consolidation repayment plan affect buying a house?

I have student loans, but I would like to consolidate them separatley and not through another loan.
Also, I have an auto loan, would the loan be able to cover that as well?

is it better to pay off your credit cards with a debt consolidation or just pay it off yourself?
